Karin Schellner hat 2006 als Whippetbesitzerin dieses Archiv für die Whippets entwickelt. Es fand so großen Anklang, dass inzwischen über 300.000 Whippets weltweit darin aufgenommen wurden. Es vergeht kaum ein Tag, an dem man nicht ins Whippetarchiv schaut, da sich jeden Tag etwas tut. Aufgrund des großen Interesses gibt es The Breed Archive auch für andere Rassen. So wurde es kürzlich für die Shelties angepasst und endlich ist es mir gelungen sie auch für die Collies zu begeistern. Inzwischen wird das ganze von einem Team von drei Damen gemanagt. Das bedeutet, das Archiv wird nicht nur so lange bestehen, solange ein Website-Inhaber seine Website betreut. Erst kürzlich ging uns die fast 300.000 Collies weltweit umfassende Datenbank von Ad Mommers verloren. Leider waren die Daten nicht mehr verfügbar, als ich darauf gestoßen bin. Das gab nun den Anstoß, das Collie Breed Archive – CBA – voranzutreiben.
Der Vorteil liegt darin, dass jeder selbst eingeben und ständig ergänzen kann. Es lebt durch die Fotos und die vielen Möglichkeiten der Auswertung, Würfe planen, Suchfunktionen etc. Da sich jeder anmelden muss und jede Bewegung nachvollziehbar ist, werden Leute, die das Archiv missbrauchen, gesperrt. Großer Wert wird auf das Copyright gelegt, jeder, der ein Bild hochstellt, muss bestätigen, dass er dazu die Berechtigung hat. Ich danke den Fotografen, die mir die Erlaubnis bereits erteilt haben, damit ich Bilder aus meinem 1000ende von Fotos umfassenden Archiv einbringen kann.
Lest bitte die Regeln genau durch. Ihr findet sie am unteren Rand der CBA-Seite. Es wird eine Facebookseite geben, auf der wir uns austauschen können und ich bei Eingabeproblemen, die vielleicht am Anfang auftauchen könnten, helfen kann. Ich habe zusammen mit Witha Schulze einen Grundstock von über 5.000 Collies eingegeben und dabei bevorzugt Hunde gewählt, von denen ich brauchbares Fotomaterial hatte. So finden wir Querbeet alle möglichen Zwinger und Typen aus dem In-und Ausland. Komplette Würfe habe ich nicht eingegeben, da ja immer nur sehr wenige der geborenen Hunde weiter in die Zucht gehen. Erwünscht ist jedoch, dass Züchter ihre Würfe komplett eingeben. Ich habe vielmehr den Grundstock gelegt für die aktuellen Eingaben. Gefällt Euch ein Foto nicht, das ich eingestellt habe, so könnt Ihr das von Eurem Hund natürlich gerne gegen ein besseres austauschen. Die Hundedaten selbst unterliegen nicht dem Copyright. Es kann also jeder, der Zeit und Laune hat, Ahnentafeln eingeben. Bitte achtet auf die korrekte Schreibweise der Namen, damit es keine Doppelgänger gibt. Todesursachen und Gesundheitswerte sollten bitte nur die Eigentümer oder Züchter der Hunde eingeben. Wir können die Richtigkeit nicht überprüfen, sollte jemand einen Hund zur Zucht aufgrund dieser Daten aussuchen, bitte vom Eigentümer den Nachweis erbringen lassen, um sicher zu gehen. Das entzieht sich unserer Verantwortung. Sucht Eure Hunde und überprüft meine Eingaben sorgfältig, korrigiert und ergänzt wo nötig.
Ich freue mich riesig, dass wir für den Collie nun so ein schönes Archiv haben und hoffe, dass es auf Interesse stößt und irgendwann zu dem Tool wird, wie es bereits für andere Rassen der Fall ist. Der Collie hat es verdient.
Noch etwas, da wir weltweit denken müssen, haben wir nicht in Lang-und Kurzhaar als Rassen getrennt. Deshalb muss das für jeden Hund eingegeben werden: R für Rough=Langhaar und S für Smooth=Kurzhaar, da das die korrekte Rassebezeichnung ist.
Es gibt Möglichkeiten, Bemerkungen und Hinweise einzugeben, die nicht standardmäßig vorgegeben sind. Ebenso unter weitere Titel z.B. Leistungsnachweise, was in den Drop Down Menüs zu weit führen würde.
Werbung jeglicher Art für Welpen oder Deckrüden ist nicht zulässig. Lasst Eure Foto sprechen. Bitte ladet keine riesigen Dateien hoch, sondern für Website geeignete. Es sollen ja keine Druckvorlagen werden, die jeder herunterladen kann!!!

In 2006 Karin Schellner from Austria developped this Archive for Whippets. It is so popular that meanwhile it contains over 300,000 Whippets from all over the World. There is hardly a day when Whippet people do not take a look, since there is something new every day. Due to this great interest Karin opened it for other breeds. Recently it was adapted for the Sheltie and now I succeeded in giving us the Collie Breed Archive as well. Meanwhile The Breed Archive is managed by a team of three ladies with professional computer background. This means it will not only be online as long as the owner of a website keeps his/her own private site open. Only recently we lost the great archives of Ad Mommers from Holland with nearly 300,000 Collies worldwide. Unfortunately the data were no longer available when I got aware of the fact. This really encouraged me to push forward the Collie Breed Archive – CBA.
Its advantage is that anybody can enter dogs and keep them updated. It lives by the photographs and the many possibilities of search and statistics, litter planning, etc. Since everybody has to log in and each movement can be traced, people who should misuse the Archive will be blocked. It is very important to know that great value is given to Copyright, if you put in a photo you must confirm that you have the right to do so. I thank those photographers who already gave me permission to upload their photos from my private collection which contains several 1000 images.
Please DO read the rules linked on the bottom of the CBA website before you enter anything. We will have a Facebook page so that we can communicate and I can help you should any problems arise at the beginning. Together with Witha Schulze I started uploading over 5,000 dogs and I preferred those I had photos of where I had the copyright or permission to do so. So you will find all sorts of kennels and types from various countries. And this is just the iceberg, I will continue putting up dogs. I did not enter complete litters which is a great tool for breeders. I rather supplied the background to fit in with what now actually will be put in of current dogs.
If you do not like a photo I put in of your dogs, please feel free to exchange it with a better one. Data of the dogs do not fall under Copyright. So everybody who has time and pleasure can add pedigrees. Please take care of the correct spelling of names so there will be no doppelgängers. Cause of death and health issues should only be entered by the owner or breeder. We cannot check correctness, and should you look for a dog based on these health issues please re-check with the owner. This is not our responsibility. Please look if any of your dogs is entered and check carefully, correct and add if necessary.
I am happy to finally have put this Archive into life and hope you will find it interesting and it will be the same tool one day as with the other breeds. The collie is worth it.
We did not separate Rough and Smooth since we have to think globally. Therefore for each dog the coat has to be entered as R for Rough and S for Smooth in any language since this is the correct breed name.
You can add own remarks which are not provided for in drop downs, such an special titles, working titles, etc. which would make some drop downs too complicated.
Advertising for puppies and stud dogs is not allowed. Let your photos speak. Please do not upload huge data but smaller ones suitable for website use. We do not want to offer printing quality for anybody to download!!!
